Twenty-six years under pressure.
Before becoming a novelist, K.A. Brown served as a career firefighter for 26 years and retired from the East Hartford Fire Department at the rank of lieutenant.
That career gave him firsthand knowledge of how real people respond when ordinary life suddenly becomes a tragedy or emergency. He witnessed fear, courage, confusion, sacrifice, and resilience—not as abstract ideas, but as immediate human reactions unfolding under pressure.
Brown draws on those experiences to create believable characters and emotionally authentic consequences. His protagonists are not untouched action heroes. They hesitate, make difficult choices, carry what they have seen, and continue forward because someone must.
